An Introduction to the Disability Information Bureau
DIB encourages people to stay independent and resilient by empowering them to gain confidence and make positive changes in their lives.
We do this with the various services we provide:

Welfare Rights Advice
We can help you to navigate the welfare benefits system, through checking what benefits you are entitled to and assisting you with applying for them.

Support Coaching
We can help you to overcome practical, financial, social and emotional barriers through either direct support or signposting to other areas of help.

IT Support and Training
We provide courses and tuition focusing on practical and useful everyday IT skills.

Information and Signposting
We can help you find information on topics such as sports and leisure, local support organisations, suppliers of equipment, home adaptations and many other areas

Shopmobility
Macclesfield Shopmobility is operated by The Disability Information Bureau on behalf of Cheshire East Council. We loan motorised scooters and manual wheelchairs to help you get around Macclesfield during our opening hours.
We are located close to the central shopping area in Macclesfield. We have a small car park with disabled parking spaces, and we are on the Flexilink bus route. We are also accessible via taxis. For further information please contact us.

Volunteering at the DIB has helped me in various ways. My mental and physical health has improved. I enjoy a better social life and have developed skills through volunteering. I have had help with my addiction issues many years ago from different charities and organisations, so I have a sense of fulfilment knowing that I am now helping people in our community.
